Yearly Average Temperature Graph
Graph was done by myself with the data given.
Winnipeg's Eco-zone is in the Prairie Ecozone.
Winnipeg has fairly long, cold winters with an average of -16°C. Winnipeg has fairly short, warm summers (19°C). The growing season is 162 to 180 days.
Winnipeg is considered a continental climate, despite you thinking that just because the city has numerous lakes and rivers doesn't make it Maritime. Winnipeg is continental because it belongs to a continent, and it is not connected to any sea.
Winnipeg has a lot of rivers, all the water is coming from the mountains going down to the flat plains of the city, and travelling through the main rivers. This causes a lot of rainfall during the fall, and spring season. Also, this creates lake-effect snow especially during the winter season.
Flooding occurs in Winnipeg yearly, this happens because there are lots of rivers connected to each other, which also means large amounts of water travelling through. Flooding also occurs in the city often because of an excess of water flow in the river banks, and the banks overflow.
Climate change is predicted to affect my city's region because since Winnipeg is connected to three main rivers, any climate changes will affect the city tremendously. For example, if there's a sudden rise in temperature during winter, a lot of snow will melt, and the river banks will not be able to accommodate the over flow of water. That will re-create flooding that will endanger the lives and businesses and the economic wealth of the city.
